Join VicLETS

We are pleased that you are interested in joining Victoria LETS.

Membership is free. However, membership comes with responsibilities. Please read the membership agreement below.

Your registration will be completed when LETS administration enables your account on this website (within a few days) and will contact you by phone or email to get you oriented in using the LETS system.

Please read carefully the following Membership Agreement. Clicking the Accept button implies your agreement to these terms.

1. Victoria Local Exchange and Trading System (VicLETS) is an economic community that trades using the VicLETS Green dollar for the meeting of needs. VicLETS provides an information exchange and system of accounts, which allows its members to create and manage Green dollars.

2. VicLETS is facilitated by volunteer members (the L-Team) who have an option to receive honorariums for service. In addition all members agree to contribute their efforts to enrich the LETS community.

3. Members have the right and are encouraged to attend regular monthly meetings. Council is made up of those members who attend meetings. Decisions are made by consensus.

4. Membership in VicLETS requires annual Federal and Green Dollar fees. VicLETS is a not-for-profit organization and fees will be determined by Council annually to cover costs and development of the system.

5. Unless revised by a general membership meeting a Green Dollar is considered equivalent to one Canadian Federal Dollar.

6. Members are willing to accept 50-100% Green dollars on offers & requests listed in the Goods & Services directory.

7. Green dollar transactions are recorded online or by phone voicemail by the purchaser (the receiver of goods or services).

8. Members are responsible for keeping a record of their own transactions.

9. Members are responsible for recording their Green Dollar income for income tax purposes. VicLETS, L-Team and Council are not obligated nor authorized to report or collect taxes.

10. A member may know the ID#, balance and turnover of another member’s account at any time.

11. The Council may rescind a transaction that is considered inappropriate.

12. Members or Council may engage the Trustee to arbitrate in the event of a dispute between members.

13. VicLETS is not responsible for warranty, value, condition or quality of goods and services listed and exchanged by members. VicLETS, L-Team or Council will not be held responsible or liable for harm or loss due to VicLETS activities or membership trades.

14. Green dollar negative balance represents the commitment to give goods and services back to the LETS community. Green dollar credit represents the commitment to receive goods and services from the LETS community.

15. Any member leaving the LETS community or discontinuing trading must inform the Membership Coordinator and ensure their balance is returned to zero before asking for their account to be closed.
